The Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHÉS), located in Bures-sur-Yvette, nearby Paris, France, hosts each year up to 250 researchers in Mathematics and theoretical Physics for stays ranging from several days to 2 years (with an average of 2,5 months).

The programme provides recipients with:

- Travel costs (up to 1,200 €);
- Living expenses;
- Free lodging at the Institute’s residence;
- Free lunches at the Institute’s cafeteria;

| Conditions for application |
|
- To hold a PhD either in Mathematics or in theoretical Physics;
- To be affiliated with an institution located in a Sub-Saharian country.

|
- Curriculum vitae, publications list, a research project;
- 2 or 3 recommendation letters (to be sent directly to candidature-ihes@ihes.fr by the candidates’ supporters).

| Selection |
Applicants are selected bi-annually by the IHÉS Scientific Committee, consisting of IHÉS permanent members and an equal number of external scientists.
